Getting Started

Basics

  • Windows: Install via the Microsoft Store.
  • macOS: Install via the Mac App Store.
  • Updates are delivered automatically through the respective store.

Generally no – you can start right away. For purchases/subscriptions, you use your store account (Microsoft/Apple). If certain online features are offered, a sign-in may be required (this will be indicated in the app).

  1. Select a puzzle type (e.g. crossword).
  2. Enter or import words/clues.
  3. Adjust layout & difficulty (size, font, hints, etc.).
  4. Review the preview and export.

Depending on the version, you will find templates for common formats (A4/A5, quiz styles, puzzle sheets). You can also save your own designs (e.g. colors, fonts, grids).

This depends on the edition and platform. Typically, crossword variants, word search, Alphametics, and other logic puzzles are available. In the app, you can find the full list on the start screen under “Puzzle Types”.

Yes. When importing, make sure to use UTF-8 encoding (e.g. for CSV/TXT). If you encounter issues, try saving the file as UTF-8 or check the delimiter/quotation marks.

Many puzzles are automatically arranged from your input (e.g. optimal placement, validations, layout). Depending on the mode, you can also edit manually or generate alternative suggestions.

Yes – import options (CSV/TXT) or direct input are typically available. For large lists, a consistent format is recommended (e.g. one word per line) with UTF-8 encoding.

Export & Output

Common formats include PDF (print), image formats like PNG/JPG (web), and possibly others depending on the puzzle type. The app shows you the available options in the export dialog.

  • In the export dialog, select A4/A5 (or a custom page format).
  • Keep the scaling at 100% if possible.
  • For print issues: disable borderless printing and use standard margins.

In many cases, yes. The export dialog typically offers options like “With solution”, “Without solution”, or a separate solution page.

Licensing & Purchase

Billing is handled through the respective store (Microsoft Store / Apple App Store). This means the store’s payment methods, invoices, and subscription policies apply.

  1. Close the app completely and restart it.
  2. Check that you are signed in to the store with the correct account.
  3. If the issue persists: contact support (see below) and have your order receipt ready.

Privacy

No data is transferred to servers; it is only stored locally on the computer. You can find the specific details in the privacy policy and, if applicable, in the app settings under “Privacy”.

No, the app does not use any special tracking.

Troubleshooting

Fixes

  • Close the app and restart it (restart your system if needed).
  • Check for updates in the store and install them.
  • Ensure there is enough free disk space.
  • If possible: reset app data / reinstall the app.

Common causes:
  • Incorrect encoding (recommended: UTF-8).
  • Wrong delimiter (comma vs. semicolon).
  • Unexpected quotation marks or empty columns.
  • Entries that are too long or contain invalid characters.

  • For print: prefer PDF (scalable).
  • For image export: choose a higher resolution/DPI in the export settings (if available).
  • In the print dialog, avoid “Fit to page” if possible.
